Abstract
Background: Febrile neutropenia is a serious and most common complication of cancer therapy. A single oral temperature of greater than or equal to 101 F, or a temperature of greater than or equal to 100.4 F for at least an hour with ANC <500>
Aims and Objectives is to study clinical profile of febrile neutropenia in ALL patients and to study the susceptibility patterns of pathogens and bacterial spectrum in culture positive febrile neutropenic patients in ALL.
Study design: It was a retrospective study.
Materials and Methods: Patients undergoing treatment and meeting the criteria for Febrile Neutropenia were included in study.
Results: The study was a retrospective that lasted a year. Children with febrile neutropenia undergoing chemotherapy were included in the research. The study emphasize the common infectious agents, their antibiotic sensitivity pattern. ANC being the most important parameter it was found that 15 patients (37.5%) had ANC <500>
Conclusion : Long-term neutropenia was linked to an increased risk of FN, and infections with a preponderance of Gram-negative bacteria were found in about 32.5% of patients.
